think 2007 ultra stock gearing is transmission pulley 32 teeth rear pulley is 66 teeth on this site somebody say go 30 teeth front 68 rear using sportster pulley could you go 68 or 70 teeth rear only and use stock belt I already have evolution ind front primary sprocket I think 30 teeth and made a difference but would like to go a little bit lower on gearing

IronMike113

I had a 08 SG, same gearing,I did just 30 tooth on the Tranny and it worked great for gearing,But others here have done the rear sporty sprocket also for even deeper gearing, No part numbers on my part,But the search button should get some results, Good Luck 👍
2 Bikes and 2 Beemers, that's what I have been told 😳

The Evo 49 tooth on my clutch has worked well on my 09 Heritage for several years, givinh (I forget zackly) 2.94 or 2.97.

On my 08RG,(117") , 07 and 08 are the same gearing. I went from the stock 32/66 to 31/68 using the Japan issue Sportster rear pulley. A world of difference and still ran the stock belt. Gave up about 4 mph at 3k rpm, 75 vs 79ish. Great for the Colorado rockies but felt a little short on the big road at 80 and above  .This year the ol'girl is getting a DD7 with a lower 1st and more even splits and am thinking that I may go back up on the gearing but am unsure if I want to go back to stock or split the difference using pulleys on hand. I am unsure if the 32/68 will work with the 137t belt but the 31/66 is almost identical in ratio.
IIRC the  export Sportster IDS pulley is a 40518-08 or 07 depending on the IDS bearing due to axle size changes, 1" vs 25mm. You should double check me on the numbers prior to ordering though.
Final drive ratios using stock primary(34/46) if I did my goesintas right
32/66  2.790
32/68  2.875
31/66  2.880
31/68  2.967

I don't think the 68 tooth with the 1.000" IDS bearing is available anymore. I don't know if the 2008 Sportster 68 tooth with the 25mm bearings can be used if the bearing is swapped out.

Keep in mind these are 2007 and 2008 Sportster parts for Japanese exports.

Any 07 and up  68 tooth sportster pulley will work on the rear of a 07 ultra. Stock belt will work but a tight fit getting it on. Shorter bolts are required.  Feels like a cam change.

brent

how much does it effect your speedometer and does it effect your cruise

skunk

Just changing the rear from a 66 to a 68 you loose about 3% of your speed, speedo reads 3% faster than you are going. Going 31/68 should be about 5% difference. I went 31/68 but corrected the speedo thru the PV tuner. Cruise worked fine for me. I don't see a reason why cruise would not work even without changing the speedo reading.

saw a 2007 to 2015 68 tooth rear sportster pulley for sale on ebay I guess that would work

2006 Dyna has 70 or 68 tooth available. 40576-06 70t black, 40578-06 70t silver. International had 68t 40535-06 black, 40537-06 silver.   Bob

I had this setup on my 07 RK and it was just what the doctor ordered. Went coast to coast 4 times with it and no issues. I also put the same basket in my 2010 ultra with the DD7 and a 113, that was a good setup but when I stepped up the power with the 117 build 1st was really  too short. Ended up going back to the factory 6speed.

someone on another site said he used a 68 tooth sportster pulley 40352-04 got it new from Chicago hd 117 dollars new rear pulley I am getting confused with all the part numbers also used same belt which I am for

tbird

04-06 sportster rear pulley will work but it is wider. Those yrs used 1 1/8" belt thus the wider pulley. Your 07 ultra uses a 1" belt which the the 07 and up sportster also use.  You can use the wider one but run a risk that rocks can get in there. When I first put the 68 tooth on my ultra I used a wider for about 10,000 miles with no problems. I have since upgraded to the 1" pulley.  Back when I first changed to 68 tooth the 1" was less available on the used market. Now easy to get on ebay

I bid on 68 tooth pulley p/n 40352-07 on wheel says 40354-07 hope it works if I get it

Like tommy g, I run the 49 tooth EVO ring gear conversion on the clutch basket on my 08 ultra. Has worked great for me. I retained the 6th gear light and have adjusted the speedo all through the proper methods using the TTS tuner.

Brent your probably ok. A lot of parts have different casting numbers, which are not the same as the part number.

brent

roaddawg  : how much did the 49 t conversion cost I already have the 30 t solid primary sprocket from evo ind up front and it helped if the rear pulley isn't geared low enough I may go  to the 49 t also

road-dawgs1

IIRC, it was roughly $175-200. I've had it for quite awhile. Kit came with everything needed. I used to run the 30 tooth sprocket from EVO that replaced the compensator, but I changed it out for this.

I'm thinking now it had to be more like $400. Can't remember it was so long ago.

I'm also looking for the correct part numbers if anyone really gets this figured out.
This bike is an '07 Classic w/ the silver motor and has the solid mounted rear sprocket. Not sure yet on the width, gotta get down there and measure.
We put the 30 tooth solid frt sprocket in the primary and it helped, especially with the starter kickbacks, but not enough for the lugging problem this bike has below 2000 rpm. Hard to believe that dropping the front 4 teeth didn't help more. Would love to go up 2 teeth on the rear pulley and keep the stock belt if that is possible.

tbird

Shouldn't be riding the bike below 2000 rpm unless going downhill or rolling into town. Bottom ends don't like that.

I agree 100%. I cruise at 2400 at the lowest rpm with no load on, flat road, gentle acceleration, short time in that range. Usually cruise between 2700 and 3200 rpm. Downshift if I need to put speed on.
Almost all but the big torque, lowest geared, lightest bikes will be a dog below 2000 rpms, especially in the upper gears.
If you are trying to gear to get substantial power below 2000 rpm, you will be turning much higher rpm on the highway.
If the government gives you everything you want,
it can take everything you have.

I received the 68 tooth pulley but read I might need .25 inch shorter bolts what size or part number and spacer although this pulley does not have ids
