I'm having a difficult time finding torque specs for the case bolts on my panhead engine. One friend said 50 ft lbs, but that's really putting the squeeze on. I'm looking in five books, and I still can't find the specs.

Should be between 15 - 17 ft lbs.

Rule of thumb an old timer shared with me 50 years ago-7-9 foot pounds for 1/4, 17-19 for 5/16, 27-29 for 3/8, etc- add 10 pounds for each 1/8" increase in bolt diameter.
Ignorance is bliss, and accuracy expensive. How much of either can you afford?

Thanks guys. 17 ft.lbs. it will be. Good info on torques for different bolt sizes.
