How r the kits holding up like oil uses & long term mileage

Jim Bronson

I've got about 30K on my RK 110 with no problems and no oil consumption.
Going down that long, lonesome highway. Gonna live life my way.

Don't mean to hijack the topic but:

  • Are there any problems with these spigots with thin walls?
  • Does the roundness of the cylinders stay within specifications without problems down the road?

Rolled over 450000 HARD miles on my 10 flhx (127/130) NO issues @ all!

That will be very subjective to the care and cleanliness during assembly. Next the tune and break-in.

I would not unbox & bolt on! Mine was fine but have had a couple out of the box that needed returned due to in-perfections & bore size! Had i not Crossed my T'S & dotted I"S I would have had issues.

I put around 50k on mine in two seasons with 130hp and I like to wind em out. Then I went 117, so my brother put the hand me down 110 parts on his bike, everything looked great so we just cleaned up the parts and stuck it on. Still not burning oil a year later.

86fxwg, harpwrench,

gents, if you do not mind me asking:

were your 110" kits SE, S&S or something else?

Looks like SE kit is the favorite.

S&S Kit Here. So far so good.

I have the HD drop in 110 cylinders with KB forged pistons. We had to take out .0005" for proper piston clearance. Other than that, the cylinders were straight and round (unlike the S&S cylinders that were simply a disgrace and out of round .005").
Mine has never used any oil.

Don't own the 110 kit but have the 117 kit which I believe is basically the same design sleeves. So far it has been a very good kit. Somewhere are 60,000 on the kit and no oil usage and the CCP hasn't changed since the build

Is it possible to put a 110 kit on a 2002 88 motor? would it be worth it ?

Hossamania

It's not a drop on kit for that year, you would need a new crank and bore the cases, I believe.
Biggest drop on you could go would be 95" or 98". A nice 95" with heads and cam is a sweet motor.
If the government gives you everything you want,
it can take everything you have.

I believe S&S make a 4in bore drop on kit gives you 100cu.in.  Bob

Put the S/E kit in my 2006 Dyna 88 with a new take out 43/8 stroke crank and the SE kit. The case requires relieving for the longer stroke to clearance the piston skirts, this can be accomplished without a case bore. Very happy with the outcome.  Bob

I guess what i'm asking is can you put a 110 kit on a 88 motor, I know it won't add up to 110 because you need the longer stroke crank, i just don't fully understand what is different, i'm guessing the pistons are bigger the cylinder bore is bigger so the case has to be relived to fit the cylinders into it, so in someways it would be like a ford 302 big piston with a short stroke and that would let you have bigger valves and run higher rpm

Ohio HD

You can't use 110 pistons on a 4.000" stroke. You can use only the cylinders, and then source the correct pistons. Better of buying the 100" kit from S&S.

irishrover

OK thanks Ohio, now my next question, My bikes currently a 95 204 cams 2009 style exhaust screaming eagle slipons, I have the SE hybrid cam plate with the updated oil pump and it is fuel injected Im using a PC piggyback controller
What cams should i upgrade to? Looking for good Tork with a topend that dosen't fall on it's face after 5000 rpm

Hossamania

Spend the money on good head work if you want to pull good power after 5000 rpm.
