Does anyone know the factory spec for running clearance for the big twin inner primary bearing 1985 to 2016?

I have never been able to find that info in any service manual.

Does bearing manufacturers recommend any std clearance for roller bearings  based on axle diameter and operating speed, or anything like that?

Most all larger bearing manufacturers have an Engineering Handbook or manual.

I'd start here, I didn't go through it as it's a large manual.

For a C3 spec, it looks like clearance should be .0018" to .0027"

Isn't it really strange that The Factory never have given a spec for this setup?

Why give a spec for something you cannot measure or adjust?

I spent 37 years in an experimental shop (jet engine manufacturer), and we never could measure a ball or roller bearing clearance, and we had an entire shop full of computerized measuring machines.

Even if you could measure it there is no way to change the dimension.

It is actually possible to measure roller bearing running clearance with feeler gauge.
