Quote from: Adam76 on December 19, 2022, 09:00:13 PMHey guys, need to upgrade my clutch to handle 130TQ / 110HP (being optimistic, could be lower) on my stage II  107" - 114" build using CP pistons, Cycle Rama cam and boring out my OEM cylinders.

What clutch upgrade will do the job --> with the lightest clutch lever pull?

I understand the VP clutch gets heavier as the rpm increase, but not sure at what rpm that is? 3500? 4000? 4500?
Also unsure if the Rekluse Torqdrive clutch pack will require heavier rate springs than the factory clutch springs, which will definitely increase lever effort.

Lever effort never used to bother me in all the previous bikes I've owned, from several Evo's to modified  TC's but these days lost a lot of strength in the left hand grip.

Thanks for any advice.
My Rekluse Torque Drive is lighter than stock pull and holds 163 TQ.

On my CVO road king we built to 117 inch and 138 HP and 140 torque we used the AIM VP-SDR.  It worked well, never had an issue.  It was a heavy pull.

On my 19 CVO we built to 130" AIM VP-SDR was only good to 145 back then.  So I went with the Rekluse Torqdrive as it was rated for much more.  The glide is at 163HP and 167 Torque.  It's been trouble free, and a lighter pull than the AIM.  At 40K miles on the build the clutch plates looked good, wear well with in spec.

AIM now has a version of the VP-SDR that is rated for 200 HP and 170 torque.  I would still choose Rekluse if I was building again.

Thanks OldMike, that's exactly what I'm looking for, but I will only have 130TQ / 110HP...

What part number was your Rekluse?
Thanks

Part number is RMS-285 installed on my 2020 Low Rider S, using the light (175tq) springs, you might be OK with the extra light (135tq) springs.

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but just wanted to confirm that when you say "stock clutch" you also mean stock springs right?

And does my 2019 softail have the oem 10 plate clutch or the original 9 plate design?

Thanks

There are some options on the clutch depending on if you want a lighter lever pull and more clutch capacity.

My goals were lighter clutch pull and capacity for mid 140's TQ and HP.
I'm using the stock clutch assembly with a AIM SDR hat. No slipping on the dyno, light lever pull, nice engagement overall. (Muller slave juice, yours is cable).

Rekulse and AIM have systems to get what you want and hold way more TQ than what you'll have.
