Part number for Ultra Rider Backrest Mounting

I was able to purchase a Mount and a Rider Backrest off the Classifieds. The Mounting Kit is part number 52589-09. I want to use this mount and backrest on an O8 Ultra. I notice that there is a part number 52587-09 that says this part fits 88-08. My question is what is the difference between the two mounts and can I make the 52589-09 one work on my 08 Bike?

I have a mounting bracket off my 07 Ultra I had planned to use it on my 09, the fit is not even close, you would have to do a bunch of retrofitting to make it work.
