Got a set Of S&S 4.625 come through. Pushed out the wheels and seen this discoloration on the Conrods. Is this normal or bad news?
Thanks

If the connecting rods were heat treated there should be some blueing of the steel.

Good to know! Helping a buddy out with his build and wanted to be sure. I really appreciate the response.

Looks like normal induction hardening.
Ignorance is bliss, and accuracy expensive. How much of either can you afford?

I dont have it in front of me right now but will tomorrow. I did a video and have a few stills I took from it.  The splines are pretty chewed up.
