I bought an '83 XLX new, and whenever I would take it in for service I would check out the XR 1000 that was sitting on the showroom floor. It was the same bike as an XLX, with the exception of the Tank Decals, Cases, Cylinder Heads, Cylinders,Cams, Carburetion, and Exhaust. Andrews makes complete gear sets that are unbeatable in quality. Andrews used to make cam sets, I believe they were designated "E". Check this site out, This guy has more info on the XR's.
