I have a 1990 sportster 883 hard tail that I need to put cams in due to the ones in it have spalling on the lobes. I was going to go with the 1275 kit and funds are on the way side at moment so I need to cut my costs. I have an set of Andrews v4 cams and the dyna ignition sitting here. My lifters have some wear on rollers from cam wear. Pushrods look good. Can I just have a performance head job done at hammer and still run the v4 cams? I suspect I will need new pushrods. My jugs and pistons look good.still have hone marks in them. No visible ridges or wear marks. Question

1. Is it worth getting the head job while I'm putting new gaskets on?

2. Will the Andrews v4 cams work still?

3. Can I reuse the stock push rods? I suspect not if I do cams.

4. What setting do I use on the dyna ignition?

Thanks in advance.

If you intend to send the heads to Hammer, talk to him about your concerns. And go with what he tells you to do. He knows what he's doing!
