Bike in question is a 2002 Road King. Can o2 sensors be wired in and/or is the original ECM even capable of utilizing them?

Need an 05 or newer ECM to use the 18MM (2007-2009) O2 sensors.
Ignorance is bliss, and accuracy expensive. How much of either can you afford?

Is this a slippery slope to needing more items from an 05/06 88"?

Been a couple years but I converted a 02 to a closed loop system.  I changed ecm.  Married it, and ran the new wires for sensors.  Then tuned it with a 176 level cal.

Great. I may be in the need of your assistance getting a couple builds dialed in. I'm just down the road from you in northeast Arkansas 👍.

There isnt a ton of difference even in wire colors including the FBW stuff. Adding O2's should be pretty easy. Like stated, wiring, ECM, flash, etc
Speed costs money. How fast do you want to spend?

I know its an old post.... I'm in the process of exploring options for tuning my 02 FLHTPI...    anyone still talking about this stuff??

Years ago I upgraded my 04 Fatboy with an 05 ecm and wired in the O2 sensors tuned with TTS level a 176 cal
For the price of upgrading the ECM, tuning device, laptop computer(didn't have one) and stock narrow band sensors on top of learning how to tune on the street without losing my life or my license lol
So kinda depends on what you are planing to tune with

Hey Wolf!

My newfound local Indy says he will gladly tune my 2002 FLHTPI with a custom map for the TTS system for $1200....   I'm very tempted to have him go ahead and make that happen...

The ecm and assorted hardware to allow me to convert and start the tuning process looks to run in the same ballpark cash outlay....about $1000-$1200 ....   does that amount seem close to your experience???

Thanks in advance!

Hopefully he's a good tuner....and supplying the TTS. If so, easy choice.

We got talking about the tune....   He's one of the few local guys who has worked with the TTS....   and he dropped Steve Cole's name, too, so that was enough for me.... so I'm hoping to get in some good miles before Laconia kicks in...

Agree with that

Oh yeah easily 1000-1200
Having a good knowledgable experienced tuner in the area would have been great but after paying for 2 tunes with unimpressive results I decide to do it myself and with the help from the people on this forum I ended up with not 1 but 2 really nice running bikes

hrdtail78

Mix in the post that is about adding o2's to older ECM's??

I assume he is going to give you an open loop tune.  Tune 650 and VCI 450 plus the 50 sales tax puts you right at $1150 at my shop.

How I would do it myself would be more expensive plus your tune would be limited to your knowledge and not the equipment.

Thanks for the Input Hrdtail...   I'm definitely not a tuner...    the last maps I added into the TTS system were open loop....   the ecm for the 02 glide isn't set up to use the O2 sensors.  I think it was about ten or so years back when I first bought the glide... a buddy of mine bought a set of very loud RB Racing pipes, and he was very satisfied with them ...   I bought a set of much quieter baffled pipes from RB Racing, and got the TTS tuner , too... all a package deal...   and the guys on one of the other forums I was on pointed me in the right direction for downloading a tune from the TTS database...   Steve Cole was on that site and his recommended map was the one I went with....
When I had the bike in the shop to do the tensioners , cam chest and cams , and a few other maintenance issues, I went back to look for that site to see if I could find a map that would optimize the new cams....   That course of action didn't work out as planned....  I'm glad I found you guys on this thread...   I haven't added the O2 sensors , because of the ecm issue...   I wouldn't have known about that issue without you guy's input on this thread.... so I'm glad i found youse...   and I appreciate your input
