Want to use just a copper plug , like the autolite , wondering if i should use the 4164 , standared or the 4163 one step colder

also what gap should you run on a 116" twin cam at 11.5 comp ,  currently run .035

I guess I have to ask, why do you feel the need to change the heat range? And how would you measure any gain or loss in performance? For a street ridden fuel injected bike, I know of no one that has used alternate heat ranges. Regardless of how big the motor is or how much compression.

I run 100% OEM ignition components in my 124" bike. I have no reason to want to change to anything else.  I run the plugs at 0.040" gap.

Well i use thundermax so i want stock type copper plugs , heat range is because i am at 11.5 compression, and shops say if above 10.1 comp they go step cooler. i am fine with the 4164 stock range and i do run a little fat on afr just trying to get imput on experiane with plug range and gap

Your plugs will show you if you need to go colder, if they're running too hot you can tell by looking at them. V-rod plugs work fine, my 107 needed them at 11.8 but my 117 has stock ones at 11:1. I gap them both at .030-.032" to get rid of false knock events.

get a set of these plugs and give them a try. Fixed top that won't come loose.
NGK (4179) it's also found under DCPR8E.
You can thank me later.

I am at 11.1 and set my NGK 4179s at 0.035 to address false knock events with some success.
I had not considered going tighter but will look at this.

I gap the NGK 4179's @ .032".
I'm right around 11.3 compression.
