Neighbor looking at dealer with a 2017   Dyna St Bob 10kmi.He's been riding metrics.asked me if I know of any issues with that yr model. Newest I work on is my 03 bagger carb. So that's my ? to pass on  info with him.Thanks.

Nothing problematic immediately comes to mind. 2017 was the last year for the Street Bob as a "Dyna" model before going to Softail in 2018. Of the 2017 Dyna models that had 103 displacement engines, the Street Bob was the only model NOT to have the "High Output" version of the 103. Also, the entire Dyna family went to Canbus wiring in 2012.

We've had 5 Dyna's in our house through the years. They have all been good bikes and I would not expect a 2017 to be any different. I have 2 gripes with the Dyna design. Two of the Dyna's developed an oil leak at the shift shaft seal as well as the charging system died. These things all happened around 70,000 miles on 2 of the Dynas. The regulators were fine. The other 3 Dyna's were not kept that long and were fine. If he doesn't ride much or sells the bike before 70,000 miles, he probably won't have a problem.

Looking at the bike pic, it has2 into1 exh. Arlen Ness ac, better  rear shocks. so the before owner spent lots of $$ to haul ass. If banging threw the gears my concern is crank slip in the wheels, then comes the sumping, oil pump issues etc. No dealer warranty or rd test. (Snow). Did HD come up with better oil pump and comp sprocket by 2017?

FWIW beginning in the 2014 model year the current premium Screamin' Eagle comp became OEM standard equipment in all big twins.

If someone wants some info on shifter shaft seals, my thread here has been viewed hundreds of times. Things changed after my 2010 Dyna FSM was printed, and over the years FSG referred me to Service Bulletins M1350 and M1296A. But all that info should be standard in the 2017 literature.

But again, just from a general "are there any known issues specifically with a 2017 FXDB", none come to mind. The earlier Street Bobs that had the sparto style tail light were known to get cracked rear fenders.
