My buddy just got himself a 51 Panhead from a mutual friend. The motor was gone through by a reputable wrench in this area less than 5000 miles ago, so it should be good to go in that respect. Electrical has been upgraded to 12 volts. Newer style hydraulic front end ( I know 49 was the first year of HydraGlide) with disc brake on front, rear has been upgraded to juice type drum brake.

I'm sure I'll have more questions later, but to start with, what was the original shift, foot or hand ? Been awhile since I actually seen this bike & I'm fairly certain it is foot shift at this time. When I get a chance to get over his way I'll post a couple of pics. Anything set the '51s apart from other year Pans ?

Thanks

'52 was the first year that had an optional foot shift.
