I have an 06 Ultra Classic. Someone I know is selling an '01 TLE Ultra sidecar for cheap money.

Does anyone know if the '01 sidecar will mount correctly to the '06 frame? I (vaguely) recall somewhere there were frame changes in '06.

Thanks!

Billy

Yes, it'll fit with the proper connection kits.

Looks like you'll need these part #s:
87166-99B Connection kit
87776-98A Brake line
88115-03 Bank angle sensor switch kit
87165-02 Stand off, front

These are the required kits to adapt a 1999-2007 TLE Ultra Sidecar to a 2003-2006 Ultra.
This info is from the 1999-2007 sidecar service manual part # 99485-07 page 2-46.

If you're mounting it yourself, get the manual. Alignment is critical.

The first time I rode a sidecar rig, it took me a half hour to pull the seat back out from getting sucked in.

If he's including the mounting brackets that'll be about everything you need.  We have bikes form the mid-90s up to 2009 with sidecars mixed and matched on them from '79-'08.  There are no significant frame changes on '06 vs. '01 except that the threaded plate for the rear hole on the rear bike bracket was no longer there as of '02.  Just leave this hole open as all the '02 and newer rear mounts only have 2 bolts used anyway.

He's including his mounting brackets. Do I still need "87166-99B Connection kit" (at $800 from Zanotti! OUCH!)?

Also, turns out this is not the "Ultra" model -- he had it mounted to his 01 Ultra Classic and thought it was the "Ultra" model, but when I asked about the CB/Stereo hookups, he indicated it doesn't have them.

Leads to another set of questions:

1. What exactly is the difference between the TLE and TLE Ultra sidecars, and

2. If I wanted to add intercom/radio capabilities, how difficult is it?
