Am interested in reducing final gear ratio for my 02 FLHRI.  Been reading about the 337 final gear ratio and wonder if that is accomplished via the SE clutch and primary gearing kit via the SE catalog?  Or is there another option? Obviously I am not a wrench and would have a shop do the conversion. HD quoted me a total of $775 including parts and labor.

No, the gearing in the S/e catalog will be a bit much for the street unless you drop in a 6 speed tranny at the same time. The 337 is changing of the clutch basket and compensator sproket along with about 40.00 ingaskets and a few hours of labor.

clutch basket 37t- 37846-99A
countershaft sprocket 24t- 40269-85a

This will raise the Rpms at 70 MPH about 250 ish. The S/e gearing is about 400rpm's higher i believe, but i could be wrong on that.

TX Chop, thanks for your reply.  I do have a SE 6 speed, however your point is well taken that a 400rpm drop is a bit much .  Those part numbers you quoted I assume are HD parts.  A 250 rpm drop would be more reasonable.

If you have the s/e 6 speed, than the addition of 337 gearing will give you almost the same RPM in 6th gear as a stock bike in 5th gear. so you gain some good acceleration and turn your overdrive into a 5 speed high gear.
