VOES not working. Would that cause no start when hot?

I unplugged vacuum line to VOES at idle. The idle didn't drop. I haven't noticed any difference in the way it runs. Could VOES cause no start when hot? It has spark during hot no start.

The VOES advances the timing during acceleration only.
As for the no start, inside the cam cover on the timing module there is a small bubble. All most pill size. This is a temp sensor. When it gets to hot this sensor opens the timing circuit so no spark can occur.
I have seen many evos run with the VOES vacuum  disconnected.

to test voes switch leave hose connected and pinch shut with long needle nose pliers and start bike bike should be warm so no choke required let idle and remove pliers should notice an increase in rpm (slight) . lots of bikes will run without but they allow the best timing curve for the engine requirement so you can get the good gas mileage and no ping
