redo on my flh '82.  Books I have do not show a oil seal on shaft through inner primary.

They describe two shaft types--new style and old style--I have new style according to

books. another thread I just read referred to a directional oil seal in this location.  Can
anyone shed some light on this.

thanx  Nuts

There is no seal on the shaft at the inner primary housing.  There's a seal in the sarter shaft housing.

A lot of people get confused by my bike.  :dgust:  It's a FLT 5 speed rubber mount with the enclosed final drive, not a 4 speed.
It's a very confusing bike.
BTW, I found out that my seal was supposed be lip out to hold vacuum.
This ain't Dodge City, and you ain't Bill Hickock.

     Nuts,
That oil seal is oem number 31341-80. My shop manual says to replace "...with lip side toward drive gear." Hope this helps, Bill
