14" Apes

Hey all,
Thinkin about putting some 14" chubby apes on my '96 fatboy. I've already got some 10" pullback chubby T-bars on it now. What I need to know is some wiring options. I know NAMZ makes an extension kit, and I can also just cut, splice and solder, or... I was looking at new control switch sets. Anyone know how much extension I would need to make a set of 14" apes work? Would the 48" switch kit work or does it need to be longer? I see some sets of switches going for just a little more than the NAMZ kits. I kinda wanna go the easy route and keep the original switches without cutting them ,so I am thinking either new switches or the NAMZ.
