It may be a stupid question, but I'm not claiming to being the gearhead that some others may be.....am learning by asking....so, what goes into each stage of the builds from 1 to 3....I do appreciate the knowledge in here and am thankful that y'all are willing to impart some of it to us less knowledgeable....TIA        RKC03  :smiled:

Stage 1- Pipes and aircleaner up-grade. Can also do big bore.
Stage 2- Add cams to above and big bore if not done.
Stage 3- Add or re-work heads to both above.

Stage 1 for my softtail was:

1. new air cleaner - K & N.
2. new S/E exhaust.
3. Re-mapp fuel injection, redline went from 5800 to 6200.

To increase the red-line I thought a person had to put in a different ignition module? Remapping allowed for the increase in RPM's?  RKC03

Most stage 1 MOCO maps will raise the rev limit a few hundred RPM, as will the Rev-Extend feature on the Power Commander, or if you use TTS, SEST, or SERT the revlimit can be set from 4000 to 7500.

Ignorance is bliss, and accuracy expensive. How much of either can you afford?
