Fuel Tank Console removal on 08 Ultra

Reading up on fuel tank removal in the back shop manual and it says that the tank console must be removed as part of the process...

Haven't taking the tank off yet but don't see why the console can't just stay on...

Any clarity on this would be appriciated...

I unplug the fuel pump connector, ease the overflow tube ( on the right side) up till it's clear, and off the tank comes. Only time the dash needs to come off is for the fuel filter shell recall.
