This May Have Been Discussed Before, However Here it Goes....
    If The Timing Of The Oil Pump Breather Is Out of Whack,
         Will The Engine Smoke. And If So, How Much?
Thanks.....

It's my understanding that there will be incomplete oil scavenging and increased pressure loading on the piston rings.  This excess oil and increase in pressure can cause oil to work into the combustion chamber.  Most likely varying engine temps, oil viscosity, and RPM's will cause differing oil consumption symptoms.   :nix:

Salty;
                    I Just Did The Top End This Winter, New Guides,New Valves, Net Seats,
                 New Pistons,New Bore and Hone, And New Rings. All Clearances Were In Spec.
   Rebuilt The Oil Pump.... The Engine Runs Excellent, Except For Some Smoking. However, Not Wanting To
        Mention Any Names, "Jack Daniels" Comes To Mind.... Although Ashamed, I May Have Used
                             Too Much "Jack" and The Wrong Mark On The Flywheel....

thank U All.....

I Have The Ol' Girl Open, and It Looks Like, The Timing Breather Notch Is Aligned With the Pump Mark
When "Single Dot" or Front Cylinder TDC On Fly Wheel Is In The Window...

I've Looked @ All My Manuals And As Far  As I Can Tell, I Need to Use The "Single Line" 20 Degs.
ATDC Or Static Timing Mark" On The Fly Wheel.

If This Doesn't Make Any Cents Sorry......

Would Just Like To Know Which Flywheel Marks To Use...

This Is A '73 1000cc

Thanks...
