Can anyone give some insight on a leak down test and what specs should be for a kick only!

A leak-down test is when you have both valves closed piston up ready to fire, the you take a tool with a gauge (i made mine out of an old spark plug) that lets you put air into the cylinder, and read the pressure and listen for leaks, intake = intake valve, exhaust = exhaust valve, crankcase breather would be rings. Someone els will chime in with more detail.

An actual leak down tester(as in the tool) has a gauge, that shows the percentage of loss
I think you are confusing with a compression tester when you say specs....and kickstart....
Any more than 10% loss is regarded as an issue on any engine... irrespective of starter type... :teeth:
