I have to say Im embarrassed to even ask this question. But can I assume the primary cam chain tensioner is the tensioner on the outside of the cam chest and the secondary is the one in between the cams. When I bought them at the dealer I asked for both tensioners assuming the were the same. One says primary and the other says secondary. Inquiring minds want to know? Thanks Gary

Been a while since I did the (only one) set that I did, but you should be able to compare them with your old ones to spot any differences.

Hopefully someone will be by to give you a more definitive answer.

Primary = outer.
Secondary = inner.
Considering a power upgrade?
First and foremost, focus on your tuning plan.

I thought logically the primary would be outside, but in todays world things arent always as they seem. Thanks for the info.

and I believe they cannot be mixed up due to the location of the "tail" that extends into the cam plate.
