2005 sportster clutch basket

Have a 2005 sportster that he spring disl in the clutch went south and sent debris throughout the clutch basket.  Is the bsket supposed to have a groove inside  all around the the middle of the basket, or was this caused by the disc seperating and spewing the brass rivets all over?
