So was wondering on clutch plates is more clutch plates better,  the thing i have it this the bdl clutch run 7 fibers 7 steels and one thick steel

fibers are .052 steels are .059 i have another set of steels that are .047 so i could run the thinner steels and end up adding another fiber and steel and still keep the stack up in the range needed. so is there a bennifit to running a thinner steel from a .059 to a .047 so i can get 8 steels and 8 fibers

Advantage:  More clutch surface area
Disadvantage: Reduced space between the steels and frictions when the clutch is disengaged.  This can cause dragging.

Craig nailed it.. Plate flatness become more critical. Dry clutches need less clearance though, no drag due to oil.. With more surface area you can run less spring pressure for the same hookup..  Max
