'89 XL leaking oil

It looks like it's leaking around the oil pump. Can the oil pump be removed with the engine in the frame?

Yes.

upon further inspection it may have been the cam cover gasket, changed it and the quad ring between the oil filter mount and cam cover, need rocker cover gaskets to hopefully finish the job. will report back when i button it up and test.
