I've destroyed a few of the oil gallery plugs used on the aluminum rocker housings when disassembling them for polishing.  Can anyone tell me what size they are and if I can use stainless steel ones in their place?  Not sure if the dissimilar metals causes a problem.  They look like a standard pipe plug.

They are standard eighth inch taper pipe, and can be replaced with stainless ones.  Use anti seize or teflon sealant on the threads and there won't be any problems with galvanic corrosion.

Thanks Lew.  I could have left them in but wanted everything stripped to bare metal for polishing and sanitizing afterward.  I did a few rocker boxes and not one plug came out easily.  Good point on the antiseize.  Amazing results polishing what looks to be a turd when you start.
