Quick transmission fit question

Will or can a 73 transmission be made to fit in 79 cases?  I imagine needing different shift shaft for left versus right shift.  Is it possible?  Anything else to consider?

trans`s are basicly the same,shift shaft,door and primary will be different,but yes you can do it,not a big deal

trans should fit thru 84 with min mods

OK, thanks.  Shift shaft I figured but didn't think trap door.  I'll study up the parts.
