ironhead screw clutch adjustment

I opened the left cover to remove the starter and repair its solenoid, put the cover back but I'm having problems tightening the screw that adjust the clutch. The manual says to turn it COUNTER CLOCKWISE until it locks and then to install the hexagonal plate and the spring followed by the small cover. The cable has a lot of slag, but i do not know what to do. Thanks for any help.

What year/model is your bike?  Sounds like a different procedure than 1975 XLCH.

Yeah, I don't have a manual that covers that year, sorry.

Any luck with your clutch problem ????? If you don't have a manual, PM me your Addy and I will see if I can send a CD which Covers various years and bikes....This Is A H-D Shop Manual... Covering '59-'76.... XL,FL,FX.
