I got my new HOG magazine Friday and seen an add about Dunlop tires. It said they were made in Buffalo New York. I was surprised and glad to hear that. Does anyone know if any other brand motorcycle tire is made in the US ?

Dunlpos are the only tire made in the USA.  They make an exceptional motocycle tire, both great reasons to run them.

Not all Dunlops are made in USA but the majority of the Harley sizes are with the exception of the  D404 which is cheap foreign crap.  We need to support Dunlop for making tires in the USA.

My new Dunlop E3 says made in the USA.

:agree: Dunlop Tires are definitely great quality!! I am running the E3's on my 2008 Ultra and love them. Next set will be the same.

Well IMO. the D401 / D402.. Were only mediocre.. E3s seem ok.. Waiting to wear out a D402 to try pair on a 07 FLHTCI.. See how they are as good as Micheline Commanders.. Tread pattern looks much better compared to the 402s..

FWIW
Dunlop MX51s, 52s, 53s are made in Indonesia. Not that you'd find them on an HD..

A few years ago I bought some D402 Harley tires that were made in France.  I think that was when Dunlop was on strike.

really? where did you learn this "fact"?  i will go ahead and assume that you are only speaking about motorcycle tires thus leaving 17 major US tire manufacturing plants out of my potential list... with that, just plants manufacturing MOTORCYCLE tires, we have:

Avon (a division of Cooper) in Arkansas
COKER - Chattanooga, TN
Michelin Motorcycle in Alabama & Oklahoma
Continental in Fort Mills,South Carolina

anyways, Dunlops are great tires... but they are not the ONLY company making them in the US

Chadlyp,
That is good to hear...

Yes I was referring to Motorcycle Tires... and what "facts" do you have that support your claim that others make MOTORCYCLE tires in the US?  BTW that is the first I've ever heard said, by anyone, including any of the mfg's you list, which import their MOTORCYCLE tires to the USA, they don't "make" them here.  I don't see where any of the domestic facilities list MOTORCYCLE tires as one of their products.   That's why DUNLOP can make that claim in their ad, do you really think they'd be that careless or "stupid" to make that claim when it's not true?  Bottom line, you won't find any MC tire with Made In The U.S.A. stamped on it other than DUNLOP.  That's a fact.

@hd06 I get my info from each tire manufacturer's websites, usually in "about us", "company" or "investors" sections... and yes, I do think that companies bend truth in advertising... a far as dunlop is concerned, I'm certain that their key to claim is that they are the only one who manufactures ALL of there tires here... even pirelli an obvious italian company has 2 US manufacturing sites, but they only make car tires at those particular plants, the point is that SOME companies make SOME of there MC tires here, on that point @black, Venom is not the only MC tire made by Avon

Well dunlop MX tires are motorcycle tires. Looked at one yesterday when this came up..  Got a few in the garage... Made in Indonesia,, :pop:

Max,  Is that why the kid your daughter is friends with was having a hard time staying on the bike........has those ENDOnesian tires?

I wasn't aware of other tire companies making M/C tires in the US,  but I'm guessing out of the list posted by chadlyp that Michelin is the only one that might.   Rick

Dunlop never claimed they made ALL their M/C tires in the US, but they are the ONLY company that makes any M/C tires in the USA...I chalenge anyone to discredit that claim with factual data...  I'll repeat what I said, you will not find Made In The U.S.A. stamped on any other brand m/c tire except Dunlop :soda:

Maybe Coker makes some retro MC tires made in USA .  I am not sure tho'  but they would be on a really small production scale.

They probably do, retro tires, so technically, there's another Made In The USA tire, but their not players in late model, modern tire mfg's.  But that's a valid point.  As you proabbaly already know, Coker bought the obsolete designs of various foreign and domestic tire companies in order to recreate the retro look sought out by vintage auto, MC, and bicycle owners.

you went from

strong words like "ONLY" and "ANY" as well as phrases like "i challenge anyone"

to

"so TECHNICALLY, there's another Made In The USA tire"

hmm... that must have been pretty rough for you

Well, if Cocker is making retro in the US, I stand (and Dunlop) corrected.  But, retro tires are not late model competitive, their obsolete designs recreated.  It's not that hard...
