:scratch:Hi
I have a 1995 Harley sportster 883 with a single speedometer only installed. Recently purchased a speedo/tach combo on EBAY to replace the speedometer (only) installed on the bike. The new speedo/tach combo. has an indicator light at the 6 o'clock position on the tachometer gauge with the word 'ENGINE' printed above the indicator light. WHAT IS THIS INDICATOR LIGHT USED FOR?

THANKS!!!!

The 'ENGINE' light means it is from a later bike. I think it was first used in 1999 and then only on the 1200S Sportster. Some Dynas may have used it but I can't say for sure. The 1999 owners manual implies some Dynas used it, but there are typos in there so anything could be true!
Don't worry about it. It is one of those 'yes everything is OK' check lights before you start the bike.
Does your bike have an electronic speedo?

Do you have the bracket for the tach speedo mount? also a foam gasket and cover needed for the back of the tach.
If you have electronic speedo you might have trouble bonnecting ires inside tach on a newer style tach (engine light).
My 96 has brass post/lugs to connect wires not a pin switch.
