hello all, new to the forum and ironheads. my first of a million questions.... i want to put on a springer front end on my 76 ironhead. will it fit with the stock neck cups and bearings? i also have neck cups and bearings off of a 82 sportster, will they work if the stock ones won't? thanks

If memory serves me right, you have at least 2 problems. Steering stem on a -76 was thinner and shorter than around -82 and up, most springers have 1'' dia. and longer stems. If using the -82 cups, I do believe that you have to turn down the outside of the cups from 1 5/16'' to 1 3/16'', it has been done. Then you would have to shorten the stem, that might be tricky on a springer, I don't know if that is possible at all.
