Sorry about the off topic. My son is in the Army. Someone stole his jacket which had the only key and security fob to his car. He needs to report to his new unit tommorrow. What is involved with replacing the key and FOB? Can a locksmith do it or does it need to be a dealer? Does the car have to be at the dealer? Thanks.

some locksmiths have the ability to recode FOB's.  Call a few different ones before caling a dealer.  If possible find one that works for an auction because most of the time they keep p with the technlogy more than others so they can keep the contracts with the auction they work for.  If not have a locksmith cut a key and then have the car towed to a dealer where they can program a new FOB for you.   Call the closest dealer to make sure they have one prove ownership of the car and they will program the FOb in a matter of minutes.  Can cost some cash so be prepared.

Thanks. Worse case. Just our luck. We live a ways from a dealer. He should have had an extra set made when I told him. Kid is in too much of a hurry. Can't blame him. He just got back in country. Thanks all.
