02 softail standard -103"- screaming eagle 79cc heads, flat top pistons, 45 Mikuni, S&S 570 gear drive, thunderheader ( or I've got some Bassani pro streets that I switch to as well)
I've been running this since 03, just really a sweet build, had wfo larry redo the heads and set them up for .630 lift- the motor really responded well.

I should be content to leave it as is, but I have a 615/585 cam here as well as a Mackie 598, I'm entertaining opinions on switching to one of these cams, or maybe a tman 590?

thoughts?

If your currently at 10.7:1 with the .570's WOW.  :dgust: 209psi ccc sea level.
The R&R .615 likes 10.8:1 so you might be there.

I ran the following with my 103 with almost the same CR & same heads done by the same gent at just a tad higher CR then yrs in my bagger.

Here is how I would evaluate my experiences, mine has carb & 3.37 final that I believe places additional stress on the starter

HQ 33G ran strong just a tad of a weirdo spot at 2400 rpms. Nice sticks

TR625's pulled like a freight train all the way to redline, my ccp was through the roof motor ran hot hard starting pita to get the timing set right / tune

DME598's best over all street manors with a steady pull from down low all the way to the top but kinda lumpy on the idle I like em.

If ya hunt around some in the dyno section my dyno is posted there comparing all the runs with each cam. Very small differences on paper between em IMO & IME other then starting & tuning.

Get something where the intake to exhaust duration is less then 9 degrees,, The DME or TR cams are good but I'd go for the TR... You'll thank me for it.. Max

Larry did the heads, he is a good guy and very helpful, he probably can give you some input.  I run a 95 with TR 590's at 10:8 to1, TR did my heads stage III and it is great package.  My observation on the 590's is they run out of juice at about 5800, but pull great off idle.  I have to be careful not to lug the motor, because they pull so good from down low.
Drive fast, take chances

Thanks for the replies, I don't think there is a bad choice there, other than having to have a cam sale to finance a new one
