HD suspension products

It seems most people think Progressive and other companies make shocks / fork springs that are better than the stock HD components, but does anyone know if the HD aftermarket suspension components, specifically the lowering shocks and lowering springs, are also better, even somewhat, than the stock HD parts?   Or, are they just the same technology, just sized differently?

It does look like the HD profile springs are progressively wound though.  Are the stock ones also?

From what I've seen the stock springs aren't progressive but 2 stage.. In other words they have 2 different spring rates on one spring. Max.

For touring models the shorter rears are the stock Streetglide ones. They suck.

Max, yes, looking at the picture of them again, you're right.  Is the two stage the same as the stock?
