replacing the lower lines on my wide glide.  I really want to avoid having the HUGE loops between the calipers and the "T".  How much slack should i have in the lines to handle the movement of the forks?  Thanks!

There is no need for huge loops for your setup. Simply use a small length of rubber brake line between your hard line and the "t". To judge length raise the front of the bike up to where the forks are at full length, and build from there.
