Hey group,
Gettn the itch again--have an '06 Road King and want to take it to 95" , head work and cams. I have done this build on 2 softails with the Andrews 37 cams with good results. Any ideas on best cam for this bike and build? Live in Florida--HOT. Want @ 9.8/1 cr.so hot starts are not an issue. Bike is injected--do I need to do anything like Daytona Twin Tec ignition??

I did 95" and Andrews 26 with BigBoyz ported heads and Cometic .030 on my 04 EGC and was very happy with it.  Some like the 21 for a cam also.

I'm 98", 204's, headwork, but I've been eyeing the 55 cam lately. Some good power being made with those and I like to wind 'er up.

Bore to 98", set the squeeze @ 9.6, and install an Andrews 26.
If you also install a 1.900" intake valve, that be a nice set-up for the RK.

It really depends where you want to focus on the power, there are many cams to choose from some for TQ with the bottom end & others that will provide mid range with longer legs.  The 26, 37 or the 204 cams will work, but I think there are new grinds out there today with some additional lift to take better advantage of yr 06 heads especially if you are gonna have them worked on.

There are many good head porters / builders right here on this site I suggest you contact a few of them discuss yr riding habits / desired outcome & then stay the course. Many of them have dyno sheets you can look at for different combinations to view. Don't get talked into a high compression build with today's "Potty mouth" gas we have, the fuel is only going to get more challenging in the future for high compression builds.

You will need some type of fuel management system to alter yr fuel & optimize yr timing on yr EFI.   PS have the new build broke in on the dyno by a competent dyno operator... not sure where you are located but many of us have had excellent results using WFO Larry & Valley Racing for build/dyno break in turn key builds.  If yr planning to perform the work yrself, trailer the new build to a COMPETENT dyno for break in. The EFI is not forgiving like a carb!

.            Rock the Andrews 55's. There's a fellow in the South Fla. Area named John
Sachs and he really knows how to make those 55's wake up and scream. That
Cam opens up at around 3000rpm and runs all the way to the rev limiter. If your
Thinking about going with a 30 tooth pulley down the road then this is definitely
                      A great cam to go with......(Andrews 55's, supertrapp supermeg and a 30t
                      Pulley  :potstir:).

It must be true,I read it on the internet.

I have this with Andrews 37n instead of the 26 in my Roadglide. Runs strong from 2800 to 5500 RPM.

"Bore it to 98".     The 21's work nice too.

Correction > I'm at 98" now, and yes that little bit more made 2 bike lengths difference for me.

The 95 or 98 engine with a 26 is a solid performing platform , really with stock heads the bikes run extremely stong for the avg rider .  Here is just on example of how well it really runs. Bang for the buck hard to beat.

Andrews 37

what I was thinking.  Bore to 98,  set the cr @ 10:1, run the 37.

No offense intended, but the 26 in a 98 seems a bit of an underacheiver.

StrokerDave

37 might ping at 10 to 1 in a heavy bike.

eaton.mike

The 26 set up correctly, with head work, and great tune can yield strong results.  I ride very aggressively and my 2005 RK pulls strong well past 100 mph.  As you can see from this dyno 96/106 - the bike does not drop below 100TQ until after 5K rmp and does not drop to 85TQ until 6K. Starts easy too, with no releases. No ping in the So Cal heat.

Mr. Torque

Andrews 37 Cometic .030 MLS head geskets and cut heads .030, of course a good tune.

strokerjlk

Hard to beat the 37. Like dewey says....it might not always be the perfect cam but it isn't the wrong cam.

Can't argue with the 37, as long as all the ducks are in a row.
Doc's Performance Tuning, Mineola, Florida, Thayers Sales & Service, Corfu, N.Y., and Joe's Cycle Repair, Mechanicville N.Y. ALL showed between 106-108 hp, and 108-111 ft/lbs this past spring, on the same 98"/37 cam/our Stage II head combo, on 3 seperate builds. 2 had Fatcats, one had a Bub 2/1.
And for 05FLTRI, a Wood 6 is always a good choice as well. 10.3 is the cr number for that guy. :teeth:

:agree: Scott Dan Thayer tuned one of my 95 in. builds with 37s ,2005 heads bowl blending and some exhaust port work, stock valve size,10.2 :1 compression through a set of Reinhart true duals. It made 101HP and 114 ft. lbs. of torque. Bike runs very well with no starting problems.
