Cleaning Black ceramic pipes

Whats needed to clean "boot" or burnt pants off the black ceramic pipes without ruining the finish? Vance and Hines says only to use mild soap and water. That won't get burnt stuff off pipes.

Hi Brother     Past wax on hot pipe, get it good and hot have your past wax on a rag and give it a fast wipe works for me, u doing OK ?

Phil, Hey Bro, we're doing just fine now that Pearl got a job. She was 7 months without. She starts this coming monday. You guys ok?

I'll give the paste wax a try, as will the other options. It's a customers bike so I'm going to try and find someway to try it off the bike just in case these ideas don't work. I'm not into buying a new exhaust for this guy.
