Can I use a 40688-08 (touring) instead of a 40689-08 (V-rod, others) and visa versa?

Other than the mounts, I think they are the same, but haven't had the two side by side.

I am pretty sure that there are significant differences in the valving and electronics setup between the two modules. The modules are custom designed for each application and I would not experiment with them at all. JMHO
