Piston and Ring Question

  Doing a 95 upgrade and want to check the piston to cyl clearance, but by the book and the piston and ring company (CP) they suggest using torque plates, of course I don't have any? What do you guy's think about taking the measurement with out the plates? And what clearance (Piston to wall) and ring gap do you guys run? Thanks for any advice

I don't think the measurement will be as accurate as you need it to be.

That information typically comes with the pistons and it varies based on alloy and application, for both the pistons and the rings, my advice would be to default to the instructions provided by the manufacturer.

 thanks, I'll try to find a shop that has the plates, so the spec's will be correct.
