Although I love my 86, there's a 2001 for sale locally with 42,000 kms at a good price.  Any know problems with the 01 models?  I'm seriously thinking of buying it but still keep my 86.

`01 is not a bad year. Good crank ,timken leftside bearing . Carb will be easy to maintain. Some have  problems with the swingarm  cracking at the axle ,  I think on high milage  bikes , can easily be changed to a later model take-off , not a deal breaker . I would check the  cam chain tensioners  and replace the inner cam bearings with the Torringtons  if not done yet. The INA  bearings  where not reliable..I bought a 2001 flh  last year  , It`s my favorite  now...bladerunner

I also enjoy my 86 FLHTC.  I'm not the original owner and it isn't in the original configuration.  I went from the front to the back when I got it an fixed or replaced all the worn parts.  Runs fine...lasts a long time.
