Installed new cam bearing today.Pinion gear is pitted,so i pulled it & want to replace. It is a "red" gear & seems to mesh ok with new EV27 cam.I dont have a mic that size or the gauge pins to measure.Easy way to check gear mesh without the specialty tools?Rear intake lobe clears engine case as i relieved it years ago with a dremel. This cam is .010" taller, should be ok i guess. No binding between case & cam lobe.Is there a minimum amount of clearance needed here?

You want .060 between case and cam lobe. End play can be between .001-.050 according to the manual which seems a little too forgiving. I like to set it at .010.
