ultima 6 speed tranny leak

I put a ultima tranny my scooter a while back and at first I thought I needed to straighten the kickstand because it appeared to be leaking oil out of the main shaft seal like the 4 speeds will do on a shovelhead when the scooter is leaning over too far. I straightened the kick stand but the leak didn't stop. I just wanted other people to know I found the problem. There is vent on top of the ultima tranny that has to have a hose connected to it. I put a 12 inch hose on the vent connection and it no longer leaks. Whoever would think a vent on top a tranny would make the tranny leak like it was leaning over too far and leaking oil out the tranny seal? If many of you guys have this problem like I have had just put a hose on the vent.
