2005 GMC Sierra 1500 4.3 liter. After making a stop today that engaged the ABS brakes, the ABS light is now on and it says service brake system on the dash. The ABS is not working now. Keep in mind it is 20 below zero here. Did something freeze up. IS IT SAFE TO DRIVE. Thanks.

Check to see if you any snow or debrie on the sensors also try starting the truck and quickly stomping on the brake as this sometimes clears it. if not hit a auto zone and have em put a scanner on it.

Yes its safe to drive you just dont have a.b.s your back to conventional brakes. Most likely auto zone wont be able to scan the abs module at least they coudnt for me i had to take it to work.Any reputable shop should be able to though.Post the code i may be able to point you in the write direction.

I was able to get it into a heated garage overnight. The light is off this morning, and the ABS is working again. It's 20 below zero again this morning so we'll see what happens today. Thanks for your help guys.
