My 57 Pan has developed some oil leaks from the tappet blocks. I also notice my front tappet block has one of the mounting holes broken off . So, I'm shoppen around for new ones and was wondering about the tappets. Should I stay with solid tappets or look at switching to hydraulic?

if funds are tight then replace the gaskets and or seals on the tubes, then use a flat washer on the busted ear this will provide the pressure you need to seal it
and I like solids so thats what I would run, but that is just me....

I,ve used shovel tappet blocks on mine and I even think you might be able to run evo blocks and tappets,( ihave seen it done only)..I like solids as they are a no brainer to set up.

If your running solids I would replace the tappet rollers.  The rollers take more abuse with solid lifters, and you don't know how long that they've been in there.
There's miles to go before I sleep.
