boatail inner fender

seems like nobody kept the inner rear fender for the boatail seat.(part#59609-70)just wondering if i can take the stock rear fender and modify it.i would chop off the rear tailight section and then figure out how to indent the two areas shown in the parts catalog.would it be easier to remove the metal and braze in a dished section?any thoughts ?Salty

thanks for the reply.its now become an obsession (thanks to you)to find a fender.i picked up a very respectable black seat,turtle tank,and an original fiberglass front fender.my 70 xlch is already complete but i may convert it to the boatail.currently the xlch has a 80 front end (dual disc) good stopping, gauges are kinda cheap looking(plastic).i have the original front end that needs work.i will probably use a  tilly but im running a mikuni now with good results.Salty
