no new post here in a bit so i will start something. :fish:

03 buell, yeah, has major problem.
been riding it for 4 years.
first got it i did tires and brakes. new ebc pads.
k&n air cleaner.
maint.
adjusted suspension for my style.

all was well.  then the fork seal leaked after a couple years.
replaced it and bushings. replaced stock. batt...  6 years old.

now my problem is
its trouble free.
just push button and ride it.
no need to tinker. its fast/quick enough so needs no  engine work.
it stops super so no need for brake up grades.
handling is about what my factory road racer was ( years ago)
no updates needed there.

i finished up ironhead.  FXDX is how i want it.
i need a hobby.  but bike is trouble free.
since its sorta a harley something must be wrong.
how can a guy agressevly ride a bike this long with no problems.
do i have a one off bike?

we have hot weather now in az.  would like to sit in a.c. shop and work on it.
going over it nothing is wrong.  bike is perfect.
well, except its yellow.
i may paint it orange with black stripes or something.
first bike i ever owned with NO issues.
whats a guy to do with extra non riding time?

getting regular cortozone shots in wrist so i can ride it. a lot!
other bikes getting jealous..
what to do?

anyone else have these reliability "problems"?

i think the answere is keeping it stock.  its plenty quick.
seems the harley problems come from doubling the horse power and wondering why the other systems break.
this bike so good stock i left it alone.
only stock bike i own.

you guys finding same thing?
i rarely read here of problems.
just look over twin cam section.
they always working on them.
what to do?
is yours this reliable?
**thanks erik***   you done good.

Good Gary, love this M2 cyclone, she is stock just what they call has a race kit fitted. here in Australia the tune frame Buell's came with 3.04 final drive ratio to pass noise tests ( ride by @ 100kph i think? )
but my M2 has American gear ratio's 3.61 final ratio i love it, has carbon aircleaner with K&N filter & CV40 , has lightning ignition module & aftermarket SS muffler, 71,000k never dropped motor never been apart no oil leaks few stone chips. handles good guy i got it from gave me a new Buell billit fork brace i fitted it & bike feels better conering over bumpy surface. i had to replace one rear sealed wheel bearing & i made a new spacer as stock one was squashed a bit & now long enough.
my Dyna twin cam has been good but has lot of mods just not problems as stock stroke 95" CV51 gear drive cams 90,000k

I had a few problems with my Uly when I got it new in 09 days after Buell folded, but it had been sitting in the shop a year. It's a good fun bike and so easy to ride. About all I do now is plug it onto the Optimate and check tyre pressure.

My Uly finally developed a few problems. Nothing major or even out of the ordinary though. I've got to replace about five seals and one fork tube due to a rock ding that keeps taking out the seal. I have all the parts but have been spending my spare time working on the pan lately. Soon it will be up to the point where my priority will be focused on the Buell.
I have missed riding the Buell  :bike: (it still runs perfectly, it's just messy with fluids) but something about riding a foot clutch-jockey shifting pan digger that's 62 years old takes my mind off of it. :chop:

Late to the thread but would note have not had a single problem with an '02 M2 Cyclone or an '09 Ulysses.  Kept them stock.  Didn't try to hop up the engine, or pull wheelies, etc.  Way more than enough power for the street.

garyajaz

maybe thats why the MOCO shut the doors.
cant make enough after sale money on them.

other than canary yellow i really like mine.

ol iron head stroker with much work is quicker.  (112 h.p.)
but stock buell is faster.  and i dont have to kick it or work on it weekly.

they kept the v-dog but let this icon go.
also owned a v-dog for a couple  months.  it just did not do things right.
was quick.  but did not handle or sit right.

I think the problem with Buell's was they were too expensive. Within a week of announcing Buell was no more , every bike in the UK was sold. HD discounted them about 30% and they just sold.

panhead_dan

Well, I got the Buell done and did something I've never done before during the process;
I had to rotate the engine in order to access the rear rocker box gaskets and in doing so several sensors, injectors and other electronic stuff had to be desconnected. After getting it all back together there were a bunch of trouble codes and it would not even start so I (are you ready for this?)

hooked up a laptop to my motorcycle.

I had never done this in my life. I cleared the codes and reset the TPS. It worked!!    :bike:
The thing runs better than it ever has!
It was like cheating. Pushing a couple of buttons instead of getting greasy.

I've never done it but rotating the engine seems so wrong to me, bad design. I read you have to disconnect the oil lines too, probably means your supposed to buy another special tool  :crook:

panhead_dan

Only problem I had was the front isolator. Took a special tool called dremel to get the darned bolt out. Another special tool called lock tight will prevent that from reoccurring.

Now that I think about it, the only genuine "special tool" I've needed so far comes in the tool kit and even it is an easy one to work around.

Bolo Ocho

Yeah guys, I have a very serious Buell problem to report:

I don't have one

and it's getting hard to find someone willing to sell their's

:wtf:, over.

garyajaz

stay tuned bolo.
i buying a papered complete tuber roller.
he taking engine out for a chopper .
in the words of Mr T "i pitty the fool".
anyway, i thinking the tubers will take any evo sporty motor.
the XB's need the down draft injected motor.

soooo, keep on lookout for  a  engine.
i buying the bike cause what the hell.
i dont need another bike. if i run into engine easy and cheap will build it.
if not.  will keep you in mind.
the tube frames dont handle as well as the alum frames.  but look cooler.
and hey duc still uses a latter tube frame, and they not shabby.
