Probably should have posted here only. (Mnger's feel free to remove duplicate)

History:

1984 Shovelhead.
93 Inch Motor.

Never was a good starting motor, as it turned over very slow and hard.
Below are the items completed to date.

The bike has been completely rewired front to rear.
Starter motor was changed (checked good prior to installing).
New battery.
New solenoid.
Extra heavy gage battery cables. I forgot the gage, but they're heavier than stock.

The engine will start, but the negetive cable keeps getting hot, very quickly.
All grounds seem good.

Any ideas on what I may be overlooking?
I'm not a proctologist, but I know an asshole when I see one...

Ground your  Starter to a good clean spot on the frame, many times trans to frame grd not good because of paint on frame.

A hot cable or connector is almost always the result of a bad connection.   Could be a frame ground.  Just have to check every connector.     Marty

Had similar problem on my last build. Turned out to be bad ground to frame due to paint as others said...

I like to use monster cable for the grounds on my bikes,,,they are very flexible due too the high wire count..I also like to double ground, it also good to use di electric grease on the bolts for the cables.
