Thanks for all of the advice on earlier post , Does anyone know if there is a left side front speedo driver made ? I would like to use what I have from other forks - front cable but the caliper is now on the left side . I considered the rear driver but would like to go with the front if it can be done .

Do you know the ratio of your speedometer?

If I can get away I will go look through my shelves tonight and see if my old left side drive is still there.

If the speedo is mounted between that tanks there is usually a tag on the back of it somewhere indicating ratio.
could be 2:1 or 2240:60. My experience is with the tank dash mounted speedo but I assume the same is true for a bar mounted unit.

If you go to the J&P catalog on page 401 the speedometer drives are there. Look at those carefully and you can determine which are left side drives for 16" wheels. (The cable trails the axle). What you have to determine is the depth of spacer you want (see the pics, there are dimensions there.). You may have to make or adjust one of your current spacers to get it to stack up right. Not brain surgery, it's pretty self explanatory when you have it apart. Measure your current left side spacer(s) and come up with a combination of drive unit and possible spacers that gives you the same measurement.

In my case I bought a drive with a long "spacer" on it and had to open up the ID of the hub seal retaining washer to get it to fit, again not brain surgery.

left side example, the on-line shows this as 2:1 the paper catalog has it listed under 2240:60

left side  2240:60

left side 2240:60
http://www.jpcycles.com/product/5600038

Looking at the paper catalog I do not understand the difference between the last 2,  5200312 and 5600038 the both show left side with the spacer at .600" but the latter is on sale for $6. Maybe I am missing the boat here you might be better served contacting their tech support at 1-800-397-4844

There are other 2240:60 units there it just depends the spacer dimension you want.

There are also left side 2:1 units with different spacers 5600036, 5600001, 5600035.

Go slow, don't take my word for it and double check that what you are buying is for the left side.

good luck!
