Bent Rim

My front rim is slightly bent on my 70 FLH.  It causes a wobble at low speeds.  I've taken it apart and proved it's the rim (not spokes, tire, balance, etc).  I know it's cheaper to just buy a new one, but I want to keep the original.  Does anyone know someone who fixes bent rims?  I'm in Massachusetts.  Just out of curiosity, how do they straighten them....do they heat it up and put it in a press of some sort??  Thanks.

It could be that your rim is simply out of true and a simple trueing will do the job. If it is bend at the bead then you might have to take a wood block and a hammer to pound it back into shape. One if the things I like about spoked rims is that they are forgiving and, if you hit something that knocks them out of whack, it can usually be fixed by one of the above methods. Of course I have had spoked rims that were damaged enough that no amount of trueing or other "Pressure" can correct but those were few and far between.
